Lake Superior sailing

Had a fast sail to Madeline Island. Blustery winds kept us there for two nights but we had a great time - cute tourist town, lots of places to eat, pretty beaches, nice walks.

"Tom's Burned Down" is a funky bar....the story goes that after his original bar burned Tom threw a tarp over the remains and opened for business. The neighbors weren't pleased but Tom hooked up with a lawyer who successfully made the case that Tom's wasn't an eyesore - it was art. The beer was ice cold :-)

Sailing to Ontonogan, MI

It was 92 degrees! We pulled over in the Keewenaw Waterway and inspired by some local teens we jumped in for a welcome dip.

The lift bridge at Houghton/Hancock. You call the bridge operator and he raises the entire roadway so you can pass under...

It's a wee bit freaky....

We made it!

On the road again!

After an unexpected visit with my folks for a couple of weeks we're on the road again...we arrive at the marina to find Miss Minn not quite ready to go...!

Lots of other boats are enjoying beautiful Lake Superior and the gorgeous August weather.

We console ourselves with pretty decent mini pies from the "Garage Gourmet" of Bayfield.

And with yummy pastries from Coco's of Washburn....our new home away from home :-)
Luckily we are doing a lot of walking to conteract the munching.

At last we're headed for the water!

Who needs a schedule anyway! We're enjoying every day!
