Geneva OH to Buffalo NY

The State Park Marina in Geneva Ohio has a great facility and deep water! We stayed longer than expected and the staff was awesome! The beach, full of drift wood after a VERY wet spring, was raked by a group of boaters into 2 bonfires! (one went all night)
We rented these very cool bikes for an afternoon and rode around the state park.
We were tied up to a wall and went through a 60 mph thunderstorm. At least the driving rain and hail washed the non-skid to like new!
On to Erie PA......Sentinals at the entrance to Presque Isle Bay.
We motored into an inner harbor under a skyway connecting the Sheraton to a convention center.

Leaving Erie PA for Dunkirk NY. Even early in the morning fisher folks are lined up along the breakwater. Perch and bass fishing were hot....we witnessed a lot of catches!
The trip to Dunkirk NY was one of the better days we've had on the Great Lakes. We even got to do something we don't do often enough.....SAIL!!!

Dunkirk Light. The weather forecast was favorable so we only stayed one night and on to Buffalo.
Clouds chased us all day an d about 30 min from Buffalo they caught up to us. Before getting off the Great Lakes mother nature had to have the last word on rain and gusty wind. Fortunately it was fairly mild....we had a chuckle over it.
At 3:15pm June 16th, after 1100 miles Miss Minn cruised into Buffalo harbor and completed the Great Lakes portion of her journey.

Rosco

April 1998 - June 7 2011

Rosco - by sms
an ode to dog
dog not god
but a messenger
a reminder
to be
to bark, to wag, to roll
to be
faithful
to be
hopeful
to be
forgiving
to gnaw the bones
and lap the juice
to sleep
but dream of running

Costa Rica, Michigans UP, Spring Launch

Scenes from Costa Rica

OK....I shared this photo with some engineering friends....this IS a typical shower head installation in C.R. They all agreed that it was wired correctly.
This was my classroom at the Spanish Language School (COSI)

My brother came for my last week in CR and stayed with my host family. Here we are with Katia.
This dog lived next door. His 'spot' was in the middle of the street where he'd lay in the mornings and evenings....regardless of traffic!
Joe found this place that makes fresh smoothies.....the tropical fruits were awesome!
Usually our trips to open the cabin in April don't involve snow!!! Not 2011!!
Rosco wants to go back south!
Across the MAC bridge toward Detroit and Miss Minn to resume our cruising adventure.
Dingy test drive!
May 30th we say goodbye to Jefferson Beach Marina and head to the Detroit River and on to Lake Erie!
.......past the Grosse Point Yacht Club.....
Entrance to the Detroit River off Lake St Clair

......South Detroit
and a few river companions.

At 3:15 pm on May 30th, after about 650 miles by water, we leave Michigan and cross into Ohio
